Practice Bus: Now Available for All Registered Rowers. Guaranteed practice bus seats are newly available to returning rowers for the 2025 spring practice season at a cost of $700 for five days (M-F) of weekly transportation during the 10 weeks of regular season practice. The bus started 2/24/2025. To reserve your seat on the practice bus, please:
1. Add athlete and parent name to the spreadsheet in the Crew Newsletter.
2. Send a $700 payment to TJ Crew Boosters Board. Payment options: -- Zelle to tjcrewtreasurer@gmail.com -- Check made payable to: TJ Crew Boosters Board, mailed to: TJ Crew Boosters c/o TJHSST 6560 Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22312
Background It has long been TJ crew policy to require freshman and novices ride the practice bus, and this remains the policy. This year, because we have a limited number of student drivers, we are adding the option of riding the bus for upperclassmen as well. Our captains, with guidance from coaches, are also organizing limited carpools. The Boosters Board hopes the busing option provides convenience and peace of mind for students/parents working to ensure safe, consistent, on-time transportation to Sandy Run after school. TJ Crew is in its 32st year and we have both Men’s and Women’s Teams. We have a history of excellence. In 2024, our Women's 1V won the Bronze in the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships (VSRC State) and qualified for the Stotesbury Cup Semi-Finals; the Men's 1V made the Grand Finals VSRC and also qualified for the Stotesbury Cup Semi-Final.
Past accomplishments include the National Champions for Women's Varsity 8 in 1996 and 1999, and Men's Varsity 8 in 2004, 2006, and 2007. Our Men's Novice 8 won the Virginia State Championship in 2023, and our Women's
Freshmen 8 won the Virginia State Championship the year before.
We have 100 team members, and no prior experience is required. Year round rowing opportunities are available. TJ Crew "Learn to Row" is available in the Fall. Then join us for Winter Training, before the main Spring season starts. Over the summer, University Rowing Camps are available and past TJ Rowers have gone on to row for many top universities. Join us and let's row together.

TJ Crew is a competitive rowing program affiliated with Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology. TJ Crew, which involves over 100 student-athletes, emphasizes hard work, discipline, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Though a varsity sport, the team receives no support from public or school funds. TJ Crew Boosters raises funds to support the team and to help meet expenses, including the cost of coaching and equipment.
